Student Terms and Conditions
The University of Southern Queensland (‘UniSQ’) hosts the free platform ‘StudyStays’ (‘UniSQ Accommodation Listings’) to assist current and prospective UniSQ students in finding off-campus accommodation. By using UniSQ Accommodation Listings as a current or prospective UniSQ student (‘you’) you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you are under the age of 18 years, you confirm that you have obtained the permission of your parent or guardian to use UniSQ Accommodation Listings and apply for accommodation listings.
- Scope of Services: UniSQ Accommodation Listings allows for the registration of accommodation options provided by property owners, real estate agents, accommodation providers and others (‘Accommodation Provider’). Unless expressly indicated on an accommodation listing, UniSQ does not and will not, own, operate or manage an accommodation listing.
- Third-Party Responsibility: All accommodation listings, and the information provided in an accommodation listing, are provided by Accommodation Providers. UniSQ does not verify the information contained in an accommodation listing or inspect an accommodation listing. UniSQ does not vet Accommodation Providers and is not responsible for the acts or omissions of an Accommodation Provider.
- No Endorsement: The inclusion of any accommodation listing on UniSQ Accommodation Listings does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by UniSQ of that accommodation listing. You must exercise your own judgment and conduct thorough research into an accommodation listing when making any accommodation arrangements.
- Quality and Safety: UniSQ does not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any information contained in an accommodation listing and does not guarantee the quality, safety or suitability of any accommodation listed on UniSQ Accommodation Listings. You are responsible for conducting your own enquiries when entering into any accommodation arrangements. This includes, but is not limited to, inspecting the property, understanding the terms of the lease, ensuring that the accommodation is appropriate and meets your individual requirements and satisfying yourself as to the integrity of an Accommodation Provider. Any issues or disputes arising from the accommodation arrangements must be resolved directly between you and the Accommodation Provider. UniSQ will not engage in any dispute resolution processes between you and an Accommodation provider. - Changes to listings: UniSQ reserves the right to modify or remove accommodation listings from UniSQ Accommodation Listings at any time and without prior notice to any student. UniSQ is not liable for any inconvenience or loss (whether monetary or other) caused by any changes to an accommodation listing. UniSQ will not enter into any discussions as to why an accommodation listing has been removed.
- Costs: You are solely responsible for the payment of all costs incurred in connection with any accommodation arrangements that you enter into with an Accommodation Provider, including but not limited to rent, water, electricity and internet costs.
- Maintenance and Repairs: UniSQ is not responsible for the maintenance or repair of any accommodation provided by an Accommodation Provider. All issues related to maintenance or repairs must be addressed directly with the Accommodation Provider.
- Registration: If you are a current UniSQ student, you must use your UniSQ email address when registering with UniSQ Accommodation Listings. If you are a prospective UniSQ student, please use your personal email address to register with UniSQ Accommodation Listings, and UniSQ will need to confirm your status as a prospective UniSQ student
- Liability Limitation: Your use of UniSQ Accommodations Listings is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UniSQ disclaims all liability whatsoever to you for any loss, damage or inconvenience you may incur as a result of, or in connection with, your use of UniSQ Accommodation Listings. This includes, but is not limited to, any issues related to the condition, safety, or suitability of any accommodation arrangements.
- Insurance: UniSQ does not provide insurance coverage for you, your personal belongings or legal liability (for example, property damage caused by you or your guests) in connection with any accommodation arrangements. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance to cover for any potential loss or damage.
- Privacy and Data protection: You understand that UniSQ will have access to any personal information that has been collected about you as part of your registration with UniSQ Accommodation Listings. UniSQ deals with personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy which can be found here. UniSQ is not responsible for the data collection or privacy practices of an Accommodation Provider.
- Termination: UniSQ reserves the right to suspend or terminate your UniSQ Accommodation Listings registration if you fail to comply with these terms and conditions, or your ongoing use of UniSQ Accommodation Listings is likely to bring the reputation of UniSQ into disrepute or cause UniSQ to be in breach of any applicable law.
- Amendment: UniSQ reserves the right to amend or replace these terms and conditions at any time and for any reason, and without prior notice.
